4 STEPS TO YOUR RIDE
Grant Vahi was very excited about this year's Cycle Challenge because he enjoys riding his bike to stay active. He also stays active by participating in Five pin bowling, cross country skiing and Bocce. Grant's favourite memory with Special Olympics Ontario was winning a provincial medal with his friends. He believes that everyone should “Try your best and don’t give up!”
Kealyn Cherwaiko from Georgetown recently signed up for our cycle challenge!! Kealyn has already been doing lots of biking this summer and is excited to continue riding her yellow bike. Kealyn likes to stay active by biking and has just started track and field with Special Olympics Ontario. Kealyn isn’t new to the world of track and field as she just won her 800m track and field event at her school!! She is excited for her future with Special Olympics Ontario and hopes to meet new friends.
Bryan Osborne from South Simcoe is being highlighted next as we continue to celebrate our RYC Cycle Challenge riders. Bryan’s favourite memory with SOO was participating in a Ten Pin Bowling event in which he won 1st place! Bryan is excited for the opportunity to join this year's Cycle Challenge which he will be completing with his dad.
We are excited to feature Stephen Graham who lives in Orilla, Ontario and has been a very active member of Special Olympics Ontario. Stephen has participated in softball, speedskating, and swimming and has been to the World Winter Games three times! Stephen is also very active in the Law Enforcement Torch Run community – not only is he an athlete representative on the Provincial Operations Committee, but he is a dedicated runner, taking part each year in the annual Guardians Run for Special Olympics!
Meet Madison Cray! This year, Madison is participating in 3 Special Olympics sports in addition to the RYC Cycle Challenge. She hopes that she can bike, walk or swim at least 5km every day. Madison’s favourite Special Olympics memory was at a basketball tournament, where she scored her very first basket. She also noted that she was lucky enough to meet the Toronto Raptor mascot and win a Raptors Jersey!
Justin Campbell might be tough competition during this year's Cycle Challenge. Justin expressed that he rides 200 plus km a week!! Along with the RYC Cycle Challenge, Justin also looks forward to competing again in Cross Country Skiing. His favourite memory with Special Olympics Ontario occurred during the Special Olympics Canada National Games in 2020, where Justin won medals in cross country skiing in his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Daniel from Timmins, Ontario has registered to participate in the Reveal Your Champion Cycle Challenge! Daniel was very excited about this year's Cycling Challenge as he loves to bike for fitness and usually bikes 5 times a week. Along with biking, Daniel has been seen playing golf and softball. We are very excited that Daniel has registered and we are looking forward to seeing his progress!
